Trainings

During the pilot phase of the ECI Greece project, the seven selected service providers attended a series of training to become torchbearers of family-centred early childhood intervention.

The training process started with an initial 2,5 days train-the-trainer activity that took place in Athens in March 2022 with the participation of professionals from all selected pilot providers.

The training was inspired by the tried-and-tested training developed in the ECI Agora project based on the Portuguese model of ECI adapted to the Greek context. The training provided the capacity building to the pilot service providers to support their transformation process towards a family-centred ECI model. The training curriculum consisted of seven modules, covering both theory and practice and participants were involved in an interactive and participative manner.

After the initial train-the-trainer activity, each pilot provider shared materials and organised internal trainings with their staff. Based on this, a training package and manual were developed to give guidance to those who would like to reproduce the activity in the future (see links below).

Consequently, a series of training was developed according to the needs and the feedback of the pilot providers. These trainings also included several study visits that gave the opportunity to participants to exchange good practices, challenges, and opportunities. Eventually a network of constant communication and exchange was established between all the professionals involved and the EASPD team. The topics of the additional trainings included the following:

  • Coaching skills,
  • Developmental assessment instruments for families and children,
  • Early detection,
  • Individual Family Service Plan,
  • Home visiting,
  • Transition from ECI to ECEC and Family-Mediated Intervention.
